Doing Business Overview
The New York State Thruway Authority is a public corporation that was created for the purpose of financing, constructing, maintaining, and operating a 570-mile tolled highway system known as the Thruway. The Authority’s Department of Procurement Services is responsible for the purchase of goods and creating contracts for services, construction projects, and engineering consultants necessary for the operation of the Authority. Prevailing Wage Rates by County
Prevailing Wage Schedules are issued separately for “General Construction Projects” and “Residential Construction Projects” on a county-by-county basis.
Obtain or Confirm a Professional License in New York
A professional license indicates that an individual has met the minimum requirements of Education Law to enter into practice or to use a professional title within New York State. A license is valid for the life of the holder unless revoked, annulled, or suspended by the Board of Regents. The Education Law requires that individual licensees periodically re-register with the New York State Education Department and pay a fee to actively practice and continue to use the professional title within the state.

Secure Surety Bonding
The NYS Surety Bond Assistance Program (NYSBAP) provides technical and financial assistance to help contractors secure surety bonding. Contractors may be eligible to receive a guarantee of up to 30% to secure a surety bond line, bid bond or a performance and payment bond on State projects. Training is also available to contractors requiring technical support on how to become bond-ready.
