TRAVEL ADVISORY: PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REMOVAL IN RAMAPO ON I-87/I-287 TO REQUIRE OVERNIGHT TRAFFIC STOPS FROM MONDAY, DEC. 13, TO WEDNESDAY, DEC. 15

Out-of-Service Pedestrian Bridge Connects Ramapo and Sloatsburg Service Areas

Bridge Removal Will Require Lane Closures and Traffic Stoppages in Both Directions

Motorists Should Consider Alternate Routes

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced the removal of a pedestrian bridge over the Thruway (I-87/I-287) linking the Sloatsburg and Ramapo service areas will necessitate traffic stops, lasting approximately 20 minutes each, in both directions during the overnights of Monday, Dec. 13, Tuesday, Dec. 14, and Wednesday, Dec. 15. The work will also require lane closures in both directions all next week, beginning as early as 7 p.m.

The traffic stoppages are scheduled to begin after 11 p.m. simultaneously in both directions to allow for the safe removal of the pedestrian bridge over the highway. There will be two temporary traffic stops nightly, each lasting approximately 20 minutes.

As part of the work, traffic in both directions will be reduced to one lane Monday through Friday evenings.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Variable Message Signs have been activated ahead of the work zone to alert motorists.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes to avoid expected delays.
