Federal Grant Applications
Overview
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, enacted in November 2021, also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), includes competitive grant programs to fund various types of transportation projects. Since passage of the BIL, the Authority has prepared and submitted the following comprehensive funding applications in support of the Capital Program and to implement Thruway use of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) technologies. Two of these applications were selected by the Secretary of Transportation to receive grant funding. Each of the unselected grant submissions advanced through the ratings assessment process to the final pool of applications considered by the Secretary of Transportation for grant funding.
Although an eligible recipient under the BIL, the Thruway Authority is not receiving any portion of the $13.5 billion of formula funding obligated to New York. However, the Authority does intend to pursue future grant funding opportunities under the BIL.
