Traveler Map Help

To pan (move the map), do one of the following:

  • Click and drag the map.
  • Zoom In - Left double click, Zoom Out - Right double click.
  • Use the Navigation Controls.

  1. Arrows - Click the appropriate arrow buttons to move the view north, south, east or west. Click the center to return to your original view.
  2. Zoom - Click + to zoom in on the center of the map. Click - to zoom out.
  3. Zoom slider - Drag the zoom slider up or down to zoom in or out incrementally. Open a pop-up window and use the zoom slider to zoom in.

About the Left Panel

The left panel displays a legend with map icons. Below is an example of the legend for Conditions:

  • Map icons can be turned on or off (visible or hidden) by clicking on the checkbox next to the icon to be selected.
  • Select the "Text View" link to view a text based html page.
  • Select refresh to update the current status of the map.

About Map Icons

Map icons appear on the map to signify an important location.

For example, when turning on the traffic camera's, the camera icon shown in the legend will appear on the map at each camera location.

To use an icon:

  • Hover over the icon on the map with your mouse to see information/descriptions.
  • Click on an icon to display an information window with more details.

Select a Map View

The map view drop down list displays quick links to pre-defined regions (eg: New York Area Zoom, Albany Area Zoom).

  • The quick links will zoom into the pre-defined region. The Statewide View will zoom out to the initial view.

Viewing Information Windows

Information Window Example

Information windows appear when you click on an icon and displays additional information about the area of interest. To view the information window, click an icon and a window will pop up.

Text View Alternative

The "Text View" links display a text only html page as an alternative for users who can not view the interactive map. The text vew pages may be useful for users with older browsers that do not support our map interface, mobile device users and users with assistive technology devices.
